I'm SamMY Green & I'm a proud kiwi based in New Zealand.
Now I am yet to go on my O.E because I've been caught up in a job but I will get there one day. In the mean time I will just keep using my annual leave strategically and continue doing a few trips a year. I'm currently working in marketing, specialising in social media and customer engagement.
So you've probably gathered that my blog is about travelling, but how did it start?
Well firstly, I love to travel. It's in my blood, my parents are exactly the same and I LOVE that! I definitely plan to follow in their footsteps. My second love is photography. Being able to think creatively about how to portray a particular scene in an interesting photo intrigued me. It's been a passion of mine for years so you could imagine how stoked 12 year old me was when I got my first digital camera! The first photos I took were crap, some of the photos I take these days are still crap. It's impossible to get it right 100% of the time but photography is one of those things where the possibilities are endless.
I was fortunate enough to go on a lot of overseas holidays growing up and once I started working a part time job I began to pay for these myself. I found I was taking a lot of photos while I was overseas, not just to take the perfect 'gram'. Instagram wasn't even a thing when I started taking photos! But just because that's what I enjoy. I loved looking back at the moments I'd captured. Once Instagram came about I started sharing these pics and I realised people were actually interested in the photos I was taking. My account started growing and then I thought, why don't I start sharing the stories behind these images? And that's how my blog started!
Even though most of the photos you might see on my Instagram and blog today always seem to have me in them, I always adjust the settings before getting someone to take the photo for me, or I use self timer. Sometimes I don't always have my tripod with me so that takes a bit of creativity! I then edit the photos myself using Lightroom. I think editing is my favourite part of the whole process, theres nothing I find more satisfying than flicking between before and after edits!!
Thanks for stopping by and remember...dare to live the life you've always wanted. Stop thinking what if, get out there and do it. If you regret it? At least you can be proud of yourself and say that you tried. Yes it's scary when dreams start to become a reality but just embrace it and strive to be the best you can be (cheesy I know, but just go with it).
